The Peninsula Hotels has a profound commitment to supporting contemporary arts. Through a myriad of initiatives and partnerships, the company enables access to artworks – by both esteemed and emerging artists – at The Peninsula properties around the world. In part, The Peninsula Tokyo also continues to redefine the art of hospitality by presenting new twists on Japanese and global contemporary art. The “Artist in Residence” program, which facilitates partnerships between ground-breaking contemporary artists and The Peninsula Tokyo, offers both inspiring experiences for hotel guests, and a spotlight for creators.

In 2023, The Peninsula Tokyo welcomes artists for "Artist in Residence" series. During the sojourn at The Peninsula Tokyo, they set up a temporary painting studio in one of the guestrooms. Hotel guests are invited to discover uniquely immersive artistic experiences, when freely visiting the atelier. While in residence, the artists will also create special paintings in his characteristic style.

This September, we have started “Journey Through Time: The Peninsula Tokyo's Ukiyo-e Art Project” and welcome Ukiyo-e Artist – OZ – to re-introduce the traditional Japanese art form to guests in Japan and abroad.

Corner of The Lobby will be transformed into Mr. OZ’s temporary atelier where guests can observe the painting process at their leisure.

▼ Access to Art Studio 
One of the guestrooms has been transformed into an atelier where the famed art pieces are displayed. In addition to the production of the canvas paintings, guests will also be able to observe ukiyo-e blueprints and other artworks by Mr OZ.

Time:    11:00 am to 1:00 pm daily
