For centuries, both visitors and merchants travelling to Istanbul’s vibrant Karaköy district, where our hotel is located, have arrived by boat. As far back as the Byzantine period, mariners who had crossed the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Black seas aboard sailing ships got their first glimpse of what was then called the port of Galata – and the breath-taking domes and spires of the magnificent city beyond – from the waters of the Bosphorus.
