For centuries, both visitors and merchants travelling to Istanbul’s vibrant Karaköy district, where our hotel is located, have arrived by boat. As far back as the Byzantine period, mariners who had crossed the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Black seas aboard sailing ships got their first glimpse of what was then called the port of Galata – and the breath-taking domes and spires of the magnificent city beyond – from the waters of the Bosphorus.

At The Peninsula Istanbul, we are proud to be part of this illustrious nautical history. We are thrilled to offer our guests an experience that brings those magnificent early sea journeys to life: exclusive water transport aboard our private motor yacht, PEN 1.

Our elegant, 16-metre craft, which can accommodate up to 16 passengers, is staffed by a dedicated captain and crew, and will be available daily to ferry guest arrivals and departures between The Peninsula Istanbul and the Haliç (Golden Horn) or Üsküdar. Newly arriving guests will be greeted on board with a welcome glass of Champagne, and with the attentive service of our Guest Experience Executives. As well as helping to streamline the check-in process at our hotel, these knowledgeable team members help introduce guests to all the extraordinary wonders of our city.
