‘Art In Resonance’ at The Peninsula Beijing Presents Enriching Art Experiences for Guests

Guests of The Peninsula Beijing can now experience Chinese contemporary culture in a new way through the hotel’s curated collection of specially commissioned paintings, sculptures and photography – including rarely shown works exhibited at the hotel’s public art gallery. The collection is accompanied by private tours of local art communities, while the hotel’s ‘Artist in Residence’ initiative – which sees The Peninsula support the cultural ecosystem of Beijing by providing living and working space to talented local artists – enables meaningful interaction between hotel guests and local creatives.

Since its founding, The Peninsula Hotels has been committed to promoting the rich and vibrant cultural aspects of the destination cities in which it resides. ‘Art in Resonance’, a global contemporary art programme, reflects a deeper commitment from The Peninsula Hotels to engage with the artistic sphere, not only as a venue but as an originator and innovator of culture. Launched at The Peninsula Hong Kong in March of this year and set to travel and grow between the luxury brand’s properties around the world, the multi-year programme commissions new work directly from artists, enabling them to create impactful and experiential art works that inspire and enchant hotel guests and visitors.

A WINDOW ON IMAGINATIVE CHINESE ART

Presenting thought-provoking interpretations of Chinese culture by local artists enables guests to make lasting connections with Beijing’s arts scene. BEIJING'S FINEST HOTEL ART GALLERY

The Peninsula Beijing’s Art Gallery represents the cultural soul of the hotel. Open to guests every day at all hours, the bespoke-designed gallery displays one-of-a-kind works by the hotel’s ‘Artists in Residence’, plus curated exhibitions of rarely viewed paintings and installations. 

The gallery most recently has been the site of a ground-breaking ‘Culture Talk’ , which saw ink artist Peng Wei, sculptor Gao Xiaowu and Lu Zhigang, founder of Mizhang Building and MINAX, discuss the cultural inspirations they have experienced during their travels. Additional ‘Culture Talks’ will be planned in the coming months with a view to bringing together artists and art connoisseurs from home and abroad to ensure additional artist interaction opportunities for guests.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

The Peninsula Beijing’s innovative ‘Artist in Residence’ programme provides emerging artists with a platform to produce and show their work to guests in a dynamic art space in the heart of the city. The hotel has created a bespoke studio and rooms for artists to live and work, and the masterworks they create are shown at The Peninsula Gallery and throughout the public areas. Guests can also visit the studio to observe the creative process, and learn about each artist’s personal inspiration.
