Ramen is Japan’s iconic noodle-soup dish, and Ippudo is undeniably one of Japan’s best-loved ramen restaurants, credited with initiating the global Japanese ramen boom. Founded in Fukuoka in 1985 on the southern island of Kyushu, Ippudo has since expanded across Japan and to several overseas destinations where it has been met with acclaim, excellent reviews, and long waiting lines for its restaurants.

This summer, The Peninsula Tokyo has partnered with Ippudo to offer an exclusive in-room dining experience titled “The Peninsula Tokyo ‘My Ramen’ by Ippudo”, allowing guests to enjoy Ippudo’s world famous tonkotsu pork broth from the comfort of their guest rooms or suites.

Ippudo is renowned for the silky consistency of its tonkotsu soup and its thin Hakata-style noodles. To encourage guests to customize their very own “My Ramen” experience, the hotel has added twelve original toppings for guests to choose from: boiled soy egg with special barbecued pork from the hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant, Hei Fung Terrace; Szechuan pickles prepared with XO sauce (a sauce originally developed by The Peninsula Hong Kong); classic spicy cod roe; takana greens; pickled ginger; kikurage mushroom; toasted seaweed; fried garlic; green onions in tobanjan chili paste; onion; sesame seeds; and shichimi spice.

The ramen noodles are cooked in the hotel’s kitchen and delivered to guests’ rooms via room service, along with the special toppings neatly presented in a wooden box. A member of the hotel’s room service team then pours the piping-hot soup over the bowl of noodles and finishes it with a sprinkling of green onions. Guests may then add any combination of toppings that they wish, to create their very own “My Ramen” meal.
