There’s more to a night out in Chicago than deep-dish pizza and a Cubs game. The Windy City is abuzz with fabulous new bar openings, and while honourable mentions must go to recently featured The Loyalist and Flamingo Rum Club, we’re also loving the following hotties for a night on the tiles...
Mezcal-oriented subterranean slicker Quiote is the Oaxaca-style basement bar below the seasonal Mexi restaurant of the same name, and both pay homage to artisanal agave. A glowing green agave sign lights your way down the stairwell to the dimly illuminated bar, where mezcal sips and neat flights tempt you to stray.
Super-swank Randolph Row speakeasy Esco Bar (upstairs at hot new West Loop Lat-Am/Caribbean resto Ronero) pours Colombian-inspired cocktails, with live music and DJs helping the medicine go down. Bartenders push cocktail carts through the seductively glam space, with cheeky jugs for groups of four to six.
Fancy more quaffing choices? Then mooch into multi-concept Coco Champagne Lounge with three bars, whiskey room and members-only basement lounge. This sophisti River Northerner serves contempo American share plates until 10pm, from grilled king crab salad to bison tartare, blending Asian flavours with Euro techniques. Decor doffs its beret to France too, with Eiffel Tower imagery and luxe chandeliers. Order champers by the bottle or glass, or sip on sparkling cocktails, with DJs and dancing post 10pm. Cheers, dears!
