Make some noise! Bangkok’s popular festival and market returns for a sixth edition on the lawns of the Museum Siam in the city’s Old Town on 3 to 4 June, with the usual line-up of indie music, writers, artists and film as well as stalls selling craft, decor, design, books and fashion. This free interactive flea market-meets-music session is a family-friendly affair, and naturally there’s tasty food and drink in the mix.
Despite the noisy name, it’s quite a chilled out affair, set in Phra Nakhon’s pretty yellow-and-white museum building, ‘where children can run, the family can sit back, artists can draw, readers can think, musicians can rock, experimentalists can explore, and tourists can shop’.
Mainly local Thai bands will play live across four music stages, including Weekend Rocker, Mosquito Attack, Count The Thief, John Will Sail and Orbital XX. On Saturday, Underground Film Festival, curated by Jam Café, will screen shorts from 7pm in an open-air amphitheatre. On Sunday, Jam Café will share feature-length film My Buddha Is Punk, alongside a special performance and screening by Museum Siam, selected by POD MD.
This year’s theme is ‘Precycling’, asking everyone to think before they produce or consume. Noise Market is encouraging festival-goers to create as little waste as possible, so bring reusable eco-friendly bags and your own water container to fit in with the green theme.
