Craft Draughts

Thailand is experiencing something of a craft beer boom, and with that comes an exciting new gang of niche-focused bars to enjoy them in... so put down that Chang and wander along to one of these brew bad boys...

Danish-born, BK-adopted Mikkeller pours a raft of 30 draughts in a tropi-cool garden-fringed fifties villa. Head above for new dining concept Upstairs at Mikkeller, where Korean, by-way-of-Chicago, chef Dan Bark pairs the city’s best imported beers with a 10-course gourmet feast.

Long-time cham-pioneer of local talent, former pop up and fest-organiser Craft n’ Roll now boasts permie digs by the Chao Phraya River, complete with on-trend graphic illustrations, funky furny, American-style hamburgers and boutique beers on tap or by the bottle.

Popular Hair of the Dog has just spawned a second larger home in Phrom Phong, with 13 beers on tap plus rare global bottles pulling in the punters. Created by one of Mikkeller Bangkok’s founders and its former tapmaster, HoD’s expert staff promise nothing short of ‘beer badassery’.

And finally, the creepily monikered but nonetheless cool Let the Boy Die takes Thai brews to the next level with a shab-chic atmos and live jazz accompaniment.

Want more?! Get to the very source of this all at the country’s first hops farm Deva Farm & Cafe just outside Bangkok, where the award-winning brothers behind Devamon brewery grow 26 varieties. Farm tours and tastings are in the pipeline!

Take that holiday feeling home and stock up at Bottles of Beer, a shop-bar which shelves an ace selection of local bottles. Crafty, or what!
