Zhi-gang Lu, founder of Shanghai-based architecture collective MINAX, explores the philosophy of traditional Chinese craftsmanship to create spaces that revitalise and carry forward Chinese culture. In The Wonder Room, Lu and his team take inspiration from meticulous woodworking techniques to create a modern take on the traditional Chinese teahouse. The work’s exterior is a nondescript, simple box, but once inside guests are enveloped within a delicate yet complex egg-like structure. It is Lu and the team's hope that all who enter will quieten their minds and remain present in a space that is undisturbed from the bustle of Hong Kong city life. Visitors can enjoy their own private zen experience with an Experimental Culinary Odyssey that leverages the captivating energy of The Wonder Room.
