As the cooler months give way to early spring, Tokyo continues to glow with elegant seasonal illuminations—streets bathed in light that invite leisurely evening strolls and quiet moments of wonder. Ideally located in the heart of the city, The Peninsula Tokyo offers effortless access to some of Tokyo’s most atmospheric winter displays. From nearby Marunouchi and Hibiya to the historic streets of Nihonbashi, these three illumination spots are all within easy reach of the hotel, making them perfect for a relaxed evening out.

Tokyo Illumilia

Period: Until February 14, 2026

Location: Yaesu and Nihonbashi area

Time: 4:30 PM – 11:30 PM

Tokyo Illumilia bathes the streets of the Yaesu and Nihonbashi area in a gentle glow, centering on Nihonbashi Sakura-dori, which connects Tokyo Station’s Yaesu Exit to Nihonbashi. This historic district—where Edo once began—has continually evolved over time. Since its launch in 2009, Tokyo Illumilia has drawn inspiration from the rich history, culture, and enduring spirit of Edo, once a vibrant hub of commerce and energy. Today, the illumination weaves together past and present, creating a warm and meaningful experience that resonates with both the city and its visitors.

Marunouchi Illuminations

Period: Until February 15, 2026

Venue: Around Tokyo Station and Marunouchi-Nakadori Ave.

Time: 4:00 pm to 12:00 pm

Just steps from The Peninsula Tokyo, Marunouchi Illuminations transform one of the city’s most prestigious business districts into a glowing winter landscape. More than 1.2 kilometers of Marunouchi-Nakadori Avenue are lined with trees wrapped in elegant champagne-gold lights, casting a refined glow against the sleek glass façades of the surrounding architecture. The display extends along Gyōkō-dōri Avenue, linking Tokyo Station to the Imperial Palace Outer Garden and forming a radiant pathway through the heart of the city—ideal for an evening stroll or a romantic winter walk.

Hibiya Magic Time Illumination

Period: Until February 28, 2026

Location: Tokyo Midtown Hibiya area

Time: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM

The Hibiya Magic Time Illumination transforms the streets surrounding Tokyo Midtown Hibiya and Hibiya Naka-dori into a refined world of light. Shimmering full-color illuminations blend with pure white to create a richly layered spectacle. Inspired by Hibiya’s long-standing identity as a center of arts and entertainment, this year’s theme, “Music,” transitions into “Nocturne,” evoking the quiet poetry of the night. The result is a captivating illumination experience, perfect for a memorable winter evening in Tokyo.
