The Peninsula Academy invites guests into the rarefied world of Ichijiku, an extraordinary bespoke atelier led by visionary designer Aaron Benjamin. Revered for his deep respect for Japanese kimono culture, Mr. Benjamin works with one of the world’s most exceptional collections of rare vintage kimono silk, transforming historic textiles into contemporary wearable art.

In this programme, guests are granted exclusive, appointment-only access to the Ichijiku Private Gallery in Shibuya, a space that operates more like a curated art gallery than a fashion studio. Here, each roll of silk is treated as a masterpiece, carrying generations of craftsmanship, symbolism, and beauty.

During the private experience, guests are personally guided by Mr. Benjamin through his remarkable collection, discovering the stories, techniques, and cultural significance woven into each textile. The journey culminates in the opportunity to commission a bespoke jacket or bomber, meticulously tailored and crafted from vintage kimono silk selected to reflect the guest’s individual style. Each creation is truly one of a kind, a timeless piece that cannot be replicated.

The experience lasts approximately three hours, including round-trip transfers, and is available daily between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm, subject to gallery availability. Participation is limited to a minimum of two and a maximum of six guests. The programme is designed for adults. Standard bespoke orders require approximately 1.5 to 2 months to complete, while fully customized designs may take 4 to 6 months. Overseas shipping is available, and bespoke items may be purchased via direct payment.
