Digital Spirit of The Quail

With the suspension of the 2020 event, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering was proud to celebrate the essence of the show by awarding one outstanding vehicle with the 2020 Digital 'Spirit of The Quail' Award!

"With as many applications as we received from all four corners of the world, we knew as The Quail Motorsports Council, that we would have a very difficult decision to make regarding picking a winner for this year’s Virtual Award," says Gordon McCall, Director of Motorsports. "And quite frankly, every car entered had several elements to it that made it uniquely qualified to win, our only wish was that we could have chosen them all!" 
 
Gordon goes on to share, “Knowing that it needed be one, and after careful and thoughtful deliberation amongst the Council, the 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Cabriolet with coachwork by Pinin Farina owned by Mr. Joe Hurwich was chosen, as it absolutely ticked all of the boxes that make up our 'Spirit of The Quail' criteria. An open bodied Alfa Romeo is truly within the spirit of motoring, its design is timeless, as is the driving experience and performance of its era. The engineering innovation has withstood the test of time as well, and so has another key factor in the choice of this car, and that is the dedication and enthusiasm of the owner."
 
"This is a car that went from a series of boxes, to a fully restored to its original glory masterpiece, through a labor of love by the owner, that did not go unnoticed by The Quail Motorsports Council,” Gordon continues. “Truly a worthy winner for this great award."
