The Peninsula Shanghai Mentoring Programme Class of 2017 Graduates

25/06/2017

The Peninsula Shanghai celebrates the graduation of the first batch of graduates from the Peninsula Shanghai Mentoring Programme, an initiative developed by the Sir Horace Kadoorie Youth Development Centre for Hospitality (SHKYDCH). The two-year mentoring programme began in 2015 and aimed to inspire disadvantaged youths in China and provide access to career opportunities in the fast-growing hospitality industry.

Programme participants took part in interactive classes of English, Consumer Mathematics and Financial Literacy, IT, Culture and Society and Life Skills, as well as weekly cultural outings that formed part of a wider enrichment programme. While each of the twelve youths learned vital skills that offer a strong foundation for a future career in the hospitality industry, the Mentoring Programme had been fundamental in unlocking the potential of each youth in building their confidence and honing their interpersonal skills.

The first graduating class celebrated their completion of the programme on May 19, 2017 at No.1 Waitanyuan. Sir Michael, Lady Kadoorie, Philip Kadoorie, The Steering Committee of SHKYDCH and representatives of charitable organizations in China attended the graduating event.
