Throughout its nearly century-long history, The Peninsula Hotels has been cherished as a joyfully welcoming second home during the festive holidays. At this special time of year, travelers from around the world converge at the group’s legendary hotels to share celebratory feasts, cultural performances and seasonal activities, and create extraordinary memories together. This year, the festive experiences offered at The Peninsula Hotels are inspired by traditional holiday pleasures: Lighting a beautifully decorated Christmas tree; gathering around it to enjoy enchanting music; and savoring lavish meals and delightful traditions with family and loved ones. In keeping with the heart-warming holiday spirit and time-honored Peninsula custom, The Peninsula Tokyo will also give guests the chance to contribute to beneficial charity organizations.
Spectacular Christmas Trees and Delightful Family Activities
This year, The Peninsula Tokyo once again celebrates the holiday season with the theme “Sending Love” and abundant, colorful decorations guaranteed to get everyone into the festive spirit. An elegant combination of classic traditions and togetherness ensures that The Peninsula Tokyo remains the ideal venue for celebrating the time-honored moments in life. To set a joyful scene, guests will be greeted by an elegantly decorated five-meter-tall Christmas tree in The Lobby.
Nestled within The Peninsula Tokyo’s Nakadori Avenue entrance, Nakadori Café – The Terrace will again invite guests to experience an enchanting Christmas Market. This delightful throwback to times past creates a captivating winter village ambiance. Under dazzling illuminations, guests can browse traditional holiday treats and gifts and count down to the most anticipated day of the year with a spectacular oversized advent calendar located near the market.
Guests can share festive greetings in timeless style by writing and sending a hotel original postcard to their family and friends around the world, from their home away from home in Tokyo. Complimentary postcards and postage will be available in all guest rooms and at The Terrace. Distinguished red post boxes stationed on Nakadori Avenue and at The Lobby enable guests to send their mail directly from the hotel.
Carefully curated family-friendly programs include the annual Gingerbread House Decorating Class helmed by Executive Pastry Chef Pascal Cialdella and his skilled team of pastry artists. In this favorite holiday season experience, children will be guided in a fun, hands-on workshop to decorate their own gingerbread house using colorful candies, icing, chocolates, and baked treats. Once their confectionery masterpiece is complete, it will be wrapped as a keepsake, ready to take home and enjoy with loved ones during the Christmas holidays. The weekend classes will be held on December 9, 10, 16, 17, and 24.
To express our appreciation to the local community during this season of giving, we are delighted to reintroduce our Acts of Kindness. On December 24 from 6:00 pm, hotel guests and passers-by will be treated to complimentary hot chocolate and Glühwein, a traditional European holiday drink of warm spiced wine. These classic festive treats will be served amid the charming Christmas décor of The Peninsula Café at Nakadori.
Our adorable and much-loved Peninsula mascot Peter Bear will make surprise appearances in The Lobby to meet and greet guests throughout the holidays. The life-sized fluffy friend will charm families and younger guests and create treasured moments to snap and share. In addition, the angelic Children’s Christmas Choir will fill the air with seasonal melodies as they serenade guests with Christmas carols at 5:00 pm on December 23, 24, and 25.
Exquisite Holiday Dining
In honor of the season, holiday guests can experience delightful festive menus at each restaurant – and a spectacular Christmas Concert Gala Dinner.
At Peter, the hotel’s 24th-floor steak & grill restaurant with sweeping views of the Imperial Palace Gardens and Hibiya Park, diners will enjoy an opulent festive four-course dinner. Menu highlights include farm-raised tuna, The Peninsula caviar, and Matsuzaka A5 wagyu beef. Peter: The Bar’s experienced bartenders will spread warming cheer with a collection of handcrafted cocktails, mocktails, and winter classics to add spice to any year-end gathering, available from JPY 2,050.

Sharing the Spirit of the Season
For decades, The Peninsula Hotels has made special efforts during the festive season to support the less fortunate members of its communities. To honor the spirit of generosity during the holidays, The Peninsula Tokyo will donate a portion of the proceeds from each Afternoon Tea sale to Make-A-Wish Japan, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, and Japan Toy Hospital Association, known as Omocha Byoin, which repairs broken toys.
