‘Stories from the Tree’-themed events include live storytelling, gingerbread baking classes and festive-themed fare to bring loved ones together and raise funds for children’s charities.

Take back control of time

Modern life can often feel busy, with time seemingly passing at an ever-faster rate. With the approach of the festive season, The Peninsula Hotels – the home of Christmas – is encouraging guests and visitors alike to practice mindfulness by slowing down, reflecting and enjoying the present moment while surrounded by those they love.

To help, the luxury hotel brand today announced a calendar of fun activities and experiences for all to enjoy – including bountiful brunches brimming with festive fare; celebratory cocktails crafted by on-site mixologists; gingerbread making classes led by each hotels’ professional pastry chefs; and live story-telling sessions of The Peninsula’s digital storybook for children ‘The Gingerbread Man’s Tale,’ taking place every Wednesday and at weekends at The Peninsula Paris. Children can meet the hotel’s Pages before enjoying a fairy-tale reading of the story under the lobby’s Christmas tree (available to download on a complimentary basis via Peninsula.com’s festive webpage).

Putting the spice back into life

The protagonist of this year’s story – which has been specially written for The Peninsula Hotels – is the Gingerbread Man. A familiar sight hanging within decorated trees, the Gingerbread Man represents the ‘Stories from within the Tree’ chapter of The Peninsula Hotels’ three-year festive campaign titled ‘Stories from the Tree’. After kicking-off with ‘Stories from under the Tree’ last year and closing with ‘Stories from the Tree Top’ next year, this year’s theme is about sharing the joy and fun of the season.

In line with this, the magic of the festive season will be celebrated at each of the ten Peninsula hotels around the globe with giant Christmas trees erected in the grand lobbies, and resplendent decorations on view for all to enjoy.

A time of reflection

Often, the joy and fun of the season is felt most strongly by the children in our lives. In support of those less fortunate, the six ‘Stories from the tree’ characters will be available to purchase at each hotel in the form of tree decorations and pins, with 5€ from each purchase being donated to local youth empowerment charities.

This year, The Peninsula Paris has chosen Les Apprentis d’Auteuil, which supports literacy efforts in the local community. Stories from the Tree-themed Afternoon Tea packages will also be available to book, with 5€ being donated to the afore-named charity from each sale.

Enchanting moments for families

To help guests celebrate all things festive on a grand scale, the hotel’s Katara Suite will feature an ice rink on its private rooftop terrace throughout the season. Guests who choose to stay in this suite can enjoy exclusive use of the rink, while admiring the breath-taking panoramic views of Paris, surrounded by a winter garden.

The hotel’s Pastry Chef, Dominique Costa, will further enhance guests’ stay with a baking class for our youngest patrons, enabling participating children to create delicious Christmas treats. Further surprises will be provided courtesy of the life-size Gingerbread house, where Chef Costa and his team will prepare limited-edition Christmas Yule logs, Gingerbread Men and other traditional Christmas sweets.

The hotel’s Kleber Terrace will be transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland, adorned with spectacular giant Christmas baubles and decorations; kids can even count down the days left until Christmas using the oversized advent calendar, with fun and surprises behind each door.

Gourmet experiences for adults

Grown-up guests can plan to spend a cosy wintery afternoon in the hotel’s gigantic festive Yurt while enjoying mulled wine, hot chocolate and festive sweets, or an array of fine French treats, such as foie gras, oysters, salmon and caviar; all of which are complemented by a range of fine wines and Champagne.

In addition, each restaurant within The Peninsula Paris will offer special lunches, dinners and brunches on the 24th and 25th of December, before welcoming in the New Year with joyous festivities!
