The Peninsula New York is partnering with St. Moritz and Badrutt's Palace Hotel to launch Chalet de Ning, an immersive Swiss-inspired rooftop experience that brings the acclaimed winter glitz and spirit of St. Moritz, Switzerland, to New York City's Fifth Avenue. Open now until Dec. 31, 2022, the pop-up emulates an evening at Paradiso, Badrutt's Palace Hotel's 10th and newest restaurant and mountain club that is leading the standard of luxurious après ski, 6,000 feet up in the Swiss Alps.
"St. Moritz is an Alpine resort in a class of its own, a special place for special people," says Marijana Jakic, brand manager of St. Moritz. "We are delighted to partner with two iconic luxury hotels to bring our distinguished small-town character, personality and luxury experiences to New York City as we welcome a highly anticipated return to international winter sports season in Switzerland."
The glamorous winter wonderland comprises two mountainside-chalet-inspired domes, furnished with stylish interiors, plus a freestanding chimenea on the west-side terrace of The Peninsula New York's iconic rooftop bar, Salon de Ning. Adapted to the season, the décor for the rooftop lounge is reflective of an impeccably chic ski lodge in St. Moritz, with vintage posters and ski equipment, Swiss Alp essentials such as snow shoes and iconic cow bells, snow-topped trees and luxurious furs set against the twinkling backdrop of Manhattan's skyline. The centerpiece of Chalet de Ning is a lighted St. Moritz sun, symbolizing the destination's 322+ days of sunshine per year.
Guests of Chalet de Ning will be able to indulge in Alpine-inspired delicacies and a special menu developed by Badrutt's Palace Hotel's award-winning food and beverage team, with signature bites including a Truffle Fondue with Gruyère, Fresh Truffle, Kirsch and Sourdough, a Smoked Trout Rillette with Celery Stalk and Rye Cracker, and Swiss Chocolate Fondue. Two specialty cocktails include the St. Moritzino with Grey Goose, Cointreau, Orgeat Syrup and Fresh Lime, and the Winter Spirtz with Aperol, White Wine, Apple Juice and Crème de Pêche.
"Chalet de Ning celebrates enchanting holiday festivities and celebratory travel experiences in one of the world's most exhilarating destinations for food, drink and luxury hospitality," says Rolf Buehlmann, General Manager of The Peninsula New York. "We couldn't be more thrilled to reopen our doors this season in partnership with St. Moritz Tourism and the Badrutt's Palace Hotel to experience European winter traditions and flavors with our dynamic community and travelers from all over the world."
Chalet de Ning is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight and is also available for private events. For additional information, inquiries, and to make reservations for large groups of eight people or more, please contact diningpny@peninsula.com.
