The Lunar New Year is the most anticipated and joyful holiday on the Chinese calendar. This year, The Peninsula Hong Kong is delighted to welcome the Year of the Tiger with a collection of celebratory experiences – including dining, spa and accommodation offers – that allow guests to enjoy the season’s festivities in luxurious Peninsula style.

Dazzling Traditional Dance
Symbolising prosperity and good luck for the coming year, the lion dance is one of the most cherished traditions of the Lunar New Year. At The Peninsula Hong Kong, a magnificent rendition of the dance, featuring nine lions and a dragon, will kick off the holiday celebration at the hotel on Tuesday, 1 February 2022 – the first day of the Lunar New Year. The lion dance will take place amid the hotel’s elaborate festive decorations, including peach blossoms, red flowers, kumquat bushes and festive lanterns to impart good luck to guests and their families.

Exquisite Puddings and Hampers
The culinary team at Spring Moon, The Peninsula Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, takes great care in crafting delicious, traditional Spring Festival puddings and hampers. The multi-tiered festive hamper case and pudding boxes are inspired by the restaurant’s art deco interior design and combine perfectly with the tea accessories motifs to make exceptionally enlivening gifts.

This year, Spring Moon offers their coveted New Year Puddings in delectable traditional flavours, including Red Date (HK$ 388), Taro (HK$ 368), Water Chestnut (HK$ 368), Turnip (HK$ 368) and New Year Pudding (HK$ 368).

For more than a decade, Red Date Pudding has become a classic favourite at Spring Moon and has been sought after by many loyal patrons. This year, Spring Moon continues the legend and heritage of the well-loved savoury delicacy among the ancient imperial palace to welcome the Year of the Tiger. Made with premium red dates irrigated by snow water, the soft and smooth Red Date Pudding with coconut filling leaves a delectable aftertaste to satisfy your palate. Red Date Pudding can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty, which was favoured by the imperial consorts for its auspicious symbolism and the benefit of nourishing the skin and maintaining health.

Sending luxurious hampers of holiday treats to friends and family is another Lunar New Year tradition. This year, the hotel’s Divine Treasures Hamper (HK$ 3,688), filled with delicacies like Red Date Pudding, dried abalone, homemade XO chilli sauce, 18-head fish maw, Hokkaido conpoy, and aged Yunnan Pu-er premium tea, makes a luxurious festive gift to share with relatives and business associates.

The New Year Puddings and Divine Treasures Hampers are available online at The Peninsula e-shop: https://eshopphk.peninsula.com/.

Delicious and Auspicious Meals
Savouring special dishes that herald prosperity has long been a treasured part of Lunar New Year celebrations. This year, the hotel will offer several of these traditional preparations for guests to take home and enjoy with their families, including Poon Choi to be served in a Spring Moon porcelain pot (HK$ 2,288 for two persons; HK$ 4,288 for four persons) or in a STAUB pot (HK$ 5,500 for four persons; HK$ 9,900 for eight persons). Spring Moon’s rendition of Lo Hei (HK$ 1,080 per serving) features chilled shredded abalone, caviar as well as crab roe ready to be tossed into a vibrant mixture for good fortune and symbolises togetherness.

For guests who prefer to dine at Spring Moon, three New Year-themed dining menus including “Fortune” (HK$ 6,988*), “Wealth” (HK$ 9,280*) and “Longevity” (HK$ 11,680*) will be available at the restaurant between 17 January and 15 February 2022.
