In this season of joy, The Peninsula Hong Kong shares the happiness with guests around the globe during the festive season with impressive and charitable events that celebrate the joy of giving and raise funds for Make-A-WishR Hong Kong and Shanghai K Charitable Foundation’s support programmes at the Sir Horace Kadoorie Youth Development Centre.

To help our guests truly enjoy this festive season, The Peninsula Hong Kong has created a range of activities that will make celebrating this year’s holiday an experience they will never forget.

‘Stories from the Tree’ and ‘Trees of Hope’
The festive season will be brought to life at each of our ten Peninsula hotels around the globe under the theme, ‘Stories from the Tree.’ Six colourful characters – including the nutcracker, gingerbread man and red-breasted robin – will adorn giant Christmas trees in each of our grand hotel lobbies, as well as the abundant decorations that will brighten each property.

Guests who stay in or visit the hotel will have the chance to purchase the “Nutcracker” ornament, priced at HK$190 each. For every ornament sold, 12% will be donated to Make-A-WishR Hong Kong and US$5 will be donated to Shanghai K Charitable Foundation’s support programmes at the Sir Horace Kadoorie Youth Development Centre, which is a Hong Kong based non-profit organization sponsoring life skills and vocational training to promote the development of disadvantaged young people in Greater China.

Celebrating festive traditions in a digital age
In support of children’s literacy, The Peninsula Hotels has also produced a digital storybook, entitled ‘The Nutcracker’s Adventure.’ Written for the whole family to enjoy, the book will be available to download from our festive webpages on a complimentary basis.

The festive season is a time for good cheer and generosity, and both are in abundant supply this year at The Peninsula Hong Kong. To celebrate the spirit of giving this Christmas, the city’s timeless Grande Dame presents a series of programmes and special offers throughout the hotel that are sure to put guests in the holiday mood while helping create a brighter future for those who are less fortunate.

In the hotel’s legendary Lobby, the much-loved tradition of Afternoon Tea will be given a festive makeover as the “Teas of Hope” Classic Afternoon Tea. Available from 1 to 21 December and 27 to 30 December, the set is priced at HK$ 388* per person and HK$ 688 for two, and includes a “Nutcracker” festive pin. For each tea set sold, 12% will be donated to Make-A-WishR Hong Kong and US$5 will be donated to Shanghai K Charitable Foundation’s support programmes at the Sir Horace Kadoorie Youth Development Centre.

The joy of festive gastronomy
For those looking for festive cheer, the forecourt of the hotel will be transformed into a mini European-style Christmas market from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on 24 December. Featuring booths offering traditional Christmas canapes and festive beverages, the holiday village will be open to hotel dinner patrons on 24 December.

The Lobby will resound with funky festive grooves courtesy of Rhythm and Harmony, who will be performing live in the evening from on 24 & 25 as well as 31 December. The in-demand 7-piece big band from the Philippines features one of the best horn sections around, putting the cool in Yule with a set list that spans the 1970s, 80s and 90s and includes a mix of acid jazz, rhythm and blues and funk, from Stevie Wonder to Jamiroquai.

Guests who enjoy a more traditional approach to Christmas are well catered for too, thanks to performances by some of Hong Kong’s finest choirs to accompany the Teas of Hope Classic Afternoon Tea. Served in The Lobby from 22 to 26 December, the Afternoon Tea is priced at HK$ 508* per person.

For lovers of classic Cantonese cuisine, there are few better places in Hong Kong to ring in the New Year than at Spring Moon. The New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner at the restaurant on 31 December will see the five-piece Spring Moon Band performing a repertoire of all-time favourites and musical numbers that are the perfect accompaniment to a spot of ballroom dancing. The restaurant also offers a festive lunch and dinner set from 21 to 27 December.

French fine dining institution Gaddi’s offers the perfect Christmas Eve treat with a six-course festive dinner on 24 December, in addition to four-course festive lunch and five-course dinner menu on Christmas Day.

Those with a penchant for the avant-garde can enjoy a Christmas meal created by new Spanish Chef Juan Gomez at Felix on 25 December, with a choice of a three-course early dining from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm or a five-course dinner from 8:00 pm onwards. There will also be a live band performing from 24 to 31 December from 8:00 pm onwards.

Much-loved Swiss restaurant Chesa hosts a festive dinner on Christmas Eve, a three-course lunch on Christmas Day, a six-course dinner on New Year’s Eve and a three-course lunch on New Year’s Day.
