The Peninsula Chicago today announces the return of a neighborhood favorite locale, the European-inspired café, Pierrot Gourmet, reopening late Fall 2022, serving breakfast and lunch, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday. Located at the corner of Rush and Superior Streets, Pierrot Gourmet (affectionately known as “PG”), has been a ‘go-to’ mainstay for area residents and neighborhood office dwellers for the last two decades.

“We are delighted to re-open the much-loved Pierrot Gourmet. It had become such a favorite spot for shoppers and area residents over the years. We took the time to create a fresh, new design and re-imagine some new culinary creations, while keeping the classic favorites,” said Maria Zec, Managing Director, The Peninsula Chicago.

The Menu: Pierrot Gourmet’s opening menus, created by Chef de Cuisine Jerick Vargas, feature many past favorites including flatbreads, tartines, soups, salads, and the ever-popular rotisserie chicken while introducing some new dishes and desserts that are sure to become instant must-haves. A wonderful selection of European wines are featured on the menu.

The Setting: The restaurant’s new atmosphere, designed by Bill Rooney, provides a modern approach to Pierrot Gourmet’s previous French country setting. This fresh, bright, airy feel is brought to life through the clean, crisp white walls as the backdrop throughout the space flanked by white with gray marble backsplash, and white-washed wood tiles accented with kelly green touches throughout. The result being a more modern and fresh appearance to the previous beloved Pierrot Gourmet space. Lingering over an afternoon lunch outside among flowering plants and the casual setting provides diners the opportunity to enjoy bustling Rush Street passersby. Overhead heat lamps help to extend the alfresco dining season for patio diners. Outdoor dining will return Summer 2023.

The Details: Pierrot Gourmet is scheduled to open Wednesday through Sunday, serving breakfast and lunch from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Pierrot Gourmet will not accept reservations. The restaurant is family-friendly with highchairs and a children’s menu, as well as pet-friendly for four legged companions dining alfresco. It seats 46 indoors and 48 for outdoor dining during Chicago’s warmer months. To-Go items are also available, including the popular rotisserie chicken, a selection of European wines, specialty desserts and pastries as well takeaway gifts for family and friends.
