To step into The Peninsula Shanghai’s Lobby is to enter the world of a wealthy nobleman’s house of the 1920s. With its understated décor of celadon green and ivory, the triple-height ceiling and stunning 3-D effects of the two giant murals created by Hong Kong artist Helen Poon, The Lobby is the hotel’s all-day dining venue, open from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. The celebrated Peninsula Traditional Afternoon Tea is a specialty with live music wafting down from the Minstrels’ Gallery performed by the Lobby Strings from 2:00 pm to 6:00pm, followed by The Lobby Band every evening.
