L’Institut Curie Charity Auction
It must take something rather monumental to make the Eiffel Tower blush. And indeed it does, Octobre Rose. The month dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness is almost upon us, and once again La Ville Lumière will be awash with pink to promote cognisance of the disease, as well as events to raise funds for breast cancer charities.

One such happening and perhaps the highlight of the tenth month’s fuchsia-hued glittering calendar is L’Institut Curie’s charity auction. Now in its fourth year, the annual installment has already collected almost €150,000 for the institute to continue its research, treatment and teaching work.

And whereas it was previously only open to women, for the first time this year men have also been invited to donate, which has increased the pool of benefactors to include some incredibly generous gentlefolk.

Among those parting with precious items or offering unmissable experiences are, starchitect Philippe Starck and his wife Jasmine, who have bequeathed a super stylish luggage ensemble; Christian Lacroix, who presents an original signed lithograph; model muse Inès de la Fressange, who gives a tote from her own line of effortlessly chic accessories; and crockery magnates Betsy and Michel Bernardaud who have devoted a special Jeff Koons-designed dinner set. Celebrity shopping for a cause? What’s not to like?
