What do you get when you cross one of Italy’s biggest fashion brands with Paris’ chic cafe scene? One of the coolest branches of Emporio Armani Caffè, the glam network of swanky hang-outs stretching from Milan to Tokyo. Ciao, bella!
After nearly nine months of renovations, overseen by white tee-sporting Mr Armani himself, the newly nipped/tucked flagship and Caffè in swanky St Germain has reopened its doors to reveal an elegant greige ground-floor cafe and first-floor restaurant.
Take note interiors fans, it’s all about neutrals here, with an elegantly pared back palette of leather armchairs and banquettes, glossy tables, herringbone timber floors and full-height windows. Even the walls deserve a best dressed gong, clad in pewter metallic leather with a sexy mirror strip. Ooh là là!
Double Michelin-starred chef Massimo Tringali captains the ship, with signature dishes including antipasti of burrata from Puglia with tomatoes and Sardinian bottarga, house-made tagliatelle pasta with artichokes, green sauce and Pecorino Romano cheese, and mains of wild sea bass with vegetables or braised free range rooster with rosemary potatoes and a light jus.
Hit the sweet spot afterwards with an Oh! Baba from Naples, with indulgent maraschino, orange, red fruits and Chantilly. Naturally, they do a mean line in ice-creams and sorbets, and a tempting affogato if you can’t decide between coffee or dessert. You’ll be loosening that Armani belt in no time, darling!
