Japan is renowned for its robust music scene, and Tokyo has long been recognized as Asia’s jazz capital, with a dense population of jazz clubs and music venues tucked away in almost every neighborhood. This winter, in celebration of Japan’s long love affair with jazz, The Peninsula Tokyo’s signature contemporary grill restaurant, Peter, will partner with Blue Note Tokyo, the city’s premier location for live jazz performances. The collaboration will be showcased with a series of music nights, dubbed “Jazz Nights at Peter,” featuring top-caliber jazz artists.
The Jazz Nights will take place on two evenings: Friday, November 1 and Wednesday, December 18. Each event will offer two seatings, the first running from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and featuring a four-course dinner showcasing Peter’s signature steak and grilled fare accompanied by free-flowing Dom Pérignon. The second seating will run from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm and will offer guests a variety of canapés along with free-flowing Dom Pérignon and other beverages.
For the first Jazz Night on November 1, music enthusiasts will be treated to the Brazilian samba and urban jazz of Dani & Debora Gurgel Quarteto
. The band brings a mix of traditional and modern rhythms, elaborate harmonies, and creative improvisation into their original music, as well as carefully arranged covers of Brazilian and pop tunes.
For the second jazz night on December 18, internationally acclaimed and Grammy-nominated German jazz trumpeter and vocalist Till Brönner
will spin the musical thread from classical Christmas repertoire to swinging American standards and current compositions. On this "Better Than Christmas" tour, songs from his popular Christmas album will be performed live for the first time. The charismatic trumpeter and entertainer will be accompanied by his international band consisting of Bruno Müller (guitar), Jasper Soffers (piano & Fender Rhodes), Christian von Kaphengst (bass), David Haynes (drums), and Frank McComb (vocals & keys).
Seatings for the dinner concert from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm are priced at JPY 29,000 per person, including a four-course dinner and free-flowing Dom Pérignon. Seatings for the after-dinner concert from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm are priced at JPY 16,000 per person, including canapés and free-flowing Dom Pérignon.
