Peninsula in Pink: Manila

Peninsula in Pink: Manila
October 02, 2017

What’s heart-warming, fuzzy and pink all over? Why, Pink October, of course! Continuing a tradition that’s been going for 8 years now, The Peninsula Manila is doing its bit to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a pastel-pretty array of ‘Pink’ packages and fundraising initiatives, from a dainty afternoon tea and delicious fuchsia-hued cocktails to rosy sweet treats, and even a charitable staycay. Think pink!

Pink Staycation. Nothing says ‘je t’aime’ like a pink getaway, whether you’re making for Makati with your girls, or planning a romantic rendezvous, only during the month of October can guests opt for the ‘Pink Staycation Package’. Pink perks for two include a scrumptious daily brekkie, a Peninsula in Pink Afternoon Tea at The Lobby, and rose-tinted welcome and beauty kits. And the best bit? The hotel makes a Php 500 donation for each night of your stay to the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care.

Pink Afternoon Tea. Due to popular demand, this charming cha fest runs a little longer than the other Breast Cancer Awareness events. From 2 Oct to 5 Nov, your appetite will be tickled pink with delicate savouries like smoked salmon roulade, beetroot-goat cheese millefeuille, and eggplant caponata quiche, while sweet tooths will go loco for three tiers of cranberry scones (with jam and clotted cream, natch), amarena choux, berry cheesecake, mini red velvet cakes, and rose-raspberry macarons. Each set is accompanied by The Peninsula’s exquisite selection of expert-curated teas, or a glass of Champagne, if you’re feeling naughty. A whopping 25% of the proceeds go directly to the Philippine Foundation of Breast Care, and you’ll even get your own “Peninsula in Pink” pin.

Buy Pink. If the afternoon tea wasn’t enough to sate your sweet side – or you’d like to share the love with people at home – swing by The Peninsula Boutique for an array of prettily packaged, sinful confections, including wild berry mascarpone pastries, rosewater-strawberry confit macarons, and pink ribbon chocolates filled with a raspberry ganache. Calories be damned!

Drink Pink. All of the hotels bars and restaurants will be mixing up tasty pink-hued tipples (cocktail or mocktail) throughout the month of October. And for a few pesos extra, you can nab a pretty pink BCA ribbon to pin on your chest with pride.

VIP PiP. On 6 October, Manila’s loveliest movers n’ shakers (fundraisers, breast cancer patients and survivors, and Philippine Foundation for Breast Care members) will meet for a special event at the Breast Care Center – an initiative which The Peninsula Manila helped to build with funds raised in previous years. This gathering will celebrate past successes and future initiatives, including the expansion and completion of the centre, complete with chemotherapy infusion chairs.
