AFRICOBRA Art Exhibition at The Peninsula Chicago
EXPO CHICAGO, the International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art, returns to Navy Pier April 7 to 10, hosting leading international exhibitors presented alongside one of the highest quality platforms for global contemporary art and culture.
The Peninsula Chicago and Kavi Gupta, in conjunction with EXPO CHICAGO, are proud to present I Am Somebody, an exhibition of works by AFRICOBRA artists Sherman Beck, Jeff Donaldson, Jae Jarrell, Wadsworth Jarrell, and Gerald Williams.
Founded in 1968, the five members of the Chicago-based group of black artists, AFRICOBRA created an aesthetic philosophy to guide their collective work—a shared visual language for positive revolutionary ideas. AFRICOBRA is one of the most significant art movements of the second half of the 20th century.
I Am Somebody will be featured in the hotel from April 7 through mid-May 2022, on the ground level as well as the main lobby on the fifth floor. The installation is open to the public and is the latest iteration of Art in Resonance, The Peninsula Hotels' global contemporary art programme dedicated to being an originator of culture through its engagement with contemporary artists who push the boundaries of their mediums, in works that engage the senses.
