Fancy escaping town for some creative down time? Rescheduled four-day music, art, food and wellness festival Wonderfruit beckons from Pattaya’s rustic-chic Siam Country Club, promising fabulous fruity fun.
The genre-blending music line-up includes Mercury Prize-winning Scottish hip-hop three-piece Young Fathers, English soul sensation Lianne La Havas, and beat-heavy London drum n’ bass posse Rudimental. Electro crew Simian Mobile Disco hosts a wow-worthy DJ set, while Notting Hill Festival legend Norman Jay brings his feelgood rare grooves. Shimmy to an uplifting session by US dance duo Wolf + Lamb, or world music by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood's JUNUN project featuring Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur & The Rajasthan Express, as well as great local talent.
You can also immerse yourself in interactive art installations and pop-up theatrical performances, from flame-spinning to circus skills. Even the stages are arty, including the sweeping Rainforest Pavilion by Thai starchitect Duangrit Bunnag.
Set on a working farm, the festival offers agricultural workshops and eco activities (including scarecrow-making and organic honey tasting), plus sustainable bites from Thailand Young Farmers and Wonder Feasts with rated Bangkok chefs including Gaggan Anand. Work it off with yoga, free-running, cycling or a power nap, care of the enlightened wellness programme.
Boutique camping in airy safari or bell tents is up for grabs, or bring your own tent. Pattaya is around a two-hour drive from Bangkok, so line up a driver. Minibreak!
