If you think a Thai water festival only involves soaking folk in the street with plastic water pistols, in typical Songkran New Year style, then press the reset button. How does getting hosed down while dancing to cutting-edge beats grab you?
Those who know their electronic dance music from their progressive house, dubstep, trance and trap will be good to go at open-air, multi-day Bangkok bash Waterzonic at the SCG Stadium. Now in its third year, earlybird tickets for this epic, wildly popular two-day EDM, water-and-firework-fuelled festival extravaganza have already sold out, but there’s still time to make a splash and wave your hands in the air!
Headlining is a trio of Dutch talents: DJ/producer Afrojack, trance act Dash Berlin and house music pioneer Fedde Le Grand (there must be something in the water in Holland). Also making the line-up are Moldovan progressive trance DJ Andrew Rayel, LA trap and bass pioneer Brillz (who dubs his sound “twonk”), Brit-born electronic music producer Jackal, LA-based producer Nghtmre, Cali duo Slander, Dutch hardstyle DJ Frontliner, Brazil’s FTampa, mysterious French electronica side-project Malaa, and Norway’s Orjan Nilsen.
VIP ticket benefits include fast-track entry, a dry zone, and private wet zone, bar and restrooms. For service with a smile check out the VVIP table, balcony and penthouse perks. Waterzonic is for those aged 18 or over, so leave the tots at home!
