  • Mr. Joseph Chong
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Area Vice President, Managing Director, The Peninsula Hong Kong and The Peninsula Shanghai

    Chong joined The Peninsula Hotels in 2000 as Director of Rooms and subsequent to Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms in Beijing. In 2007, Chong was promoted to Resident Manager, The Peninsula Bangkok before taking up his role as Hotel Manager, The Peninsula Shanghai in January 2009. In April 2011, Chong assumed the role of General Manager of The Peninsula Shanghai and later promoted to General Manager and Managing Director of The Peninsula Shanghai Complex.  In November 2017, he is appointed as Area Vice President, Managing Director of The Peninsula Hong Kong and The Peninsula Shanghai. 

    Chong graduated from Internationale Institute D’Hotellerie Et De Tourisme de Toulouse Pyrenees (Malaysia and France) in Hotel, Catering and Tourism.  He is currently the Fellow of Institute of Hospitality (FIH), United Kingdom.  

    Chong is actively involved in community efforts as he has been appointed as Honorary Trustee of Raleigh China since 2011. In addition, he is also Trustee of the Library Project China Board and Director of Make-A-Wish China Board since its inception in 2016.  Meanwhile, Chong has also assumed Director, Steering Committee of Sir Horace Kadoorie Youth Development Foundation.

  • Mr. Jisoo Chon
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    General Manager

    Chon started his career with The Peninsula Hotels in Chicago as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage since 2008 and was later promoted to Director of Food & Beverage.  He was then relocated to The Peninsula Shanghai as Executive Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage and promoted to Resident Manager since 2015.  In November, 2017, Chon has been appointed as General Manager of The Peninsula Shanghai.

    A graduate of Ecole Hoteliere de Glion, Switzerland with Distinction, Chon has been instrumental in food & beverage operations and management as he gained his experience in a number of luxury hotels in New York and Chicago. Chon is native in Korean and English.

  • Ms. Rieko Kibe
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Director of Marketing, China East

    Kibe joined The Peninsula Hong Kong in 1994 as Assistant Director of Sales, Japan.  After that, she worked her way up through ranks and became Director of Marketing of The Peninsula Bangkok in 2007.  In 2012, Kibe was relocated to Shanghai assuming Director of Marketing and subsequently appointed to Director of Marketing, China East, in charge of the sales and marketing activities of China East on behalf of The Peninsula Hotels.

    A native of Japan, Kibe embarked her hospitality career in Hong Kong by associated with Hyatt properties.

  • Mr. Nicol Yuen
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Director of Finance

    Yuan has been appointed to Director of Finance of The Peninsula Shanghai since 2011 overseeing the financial operation of the entire complex.  Yuen is instrumental with decades of financial experience especially in hospitality sector.  Before joining The Peninsula, Yuen held various key financial positions in five-star hotels in Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai, including his last posting with Ritz Carlton as Area Director of Finance, covering markets of China, Korea and Singapore.

    Yuen is a Chartered Global Management Accountant and is a MBA Degree holder of University of Wales and Manchester Business School in Financial Specialist.

  • Ms. Cecilia Lui
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Regional Director of Communications, China and Director, PRC Affairs, Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited

    Lui joined The Peninsula Beijing in 2001 as Director of Public Relations actively engaging in the renaming and rebranding of The former Palace Hotel.  In 2009, Lui was relocated to Shanghai in the capacity of Regional Director of Communications, China overseeing all aspects of communications encompassing media relations, brand communications, partnerships and digital marketing.  From 2015, Lui has also been appointed as Director, PRC Affairs managing the government related matters on behalf of the group.

    Lui is graduate (Hons) of The University of Hong Kong and a Chevening Scholar United Kingdom.  Lui has been accumulating her marketing communications experience in past decades from luxury brands and hotels in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.

  • Mr. Ricci Wu
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms

    Wu joined the Rooms Division of The Peninsula Hong Kong in 1995 and focused on guest relations and VIP engagement. In 2009, Wu became part of the pre-opening team of The Peninsula Shanghai as Guest Relations Manager. Later on, he was appointed as Director of Rooms overseeing the entire Rooms Division including housekeeping, front desk, guest relations and The Concierge. Beginning of 2017, he has been appointed as Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms with spa also under the division.

    Born and raised in Hong Kong, Wu graduated from Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada with Bachelor in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

  • Ms. Laurie Cheng
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Director of Human Resources

    Cheng started her career with The Peninsula Shanghai as Human Resources Manager since 2010 and subsequently promoted to Director of Human Resources in 2014.  Cheng is responsible for the entire human resources division including learning and development department, which is focused on coaching, training and guiding staff on their career path.

    A Master Degree holder in English Language and Literature from Shanghai International Studies University, Cheng brought with her substantial training experience from various Hilton properties to join The Peninsula.

  • Ms. Grace Zhao
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Legal Counsel

    Zhao has been appointed as Legal Counsel of The Peninsula Shanghai since 2015.  Prior to joining hospitality sector, Zhao has gained her legal experience from various international law firms including Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, Hong Kong and TransAsia Lawyers.  Zhao is currently responsible for the legal matters of The Peninsula Shanghai, along with providing legal support to sister properties and group office.

    Zhao is a graduate of Law Faculty of University of Leicester, United Kingdom and is also a Master Degree holder of School of Law, Northwestern University, Chicago.

  • Mr. Bill Huang
    The Peninsula Shanghai
    Director of Engineering

    Huang started as Assistant Director of Engineering of The Peninsula Shanghai since 2010.  Since August 2017, he has been promoted to Director of Engineering in charge of the engineering division of the complex.

    Graduated from Dalian Maritime University with Bachelor in Engineering, Huang is instrumental with diverse engineering experience in luxury hotels in Shanghai and Hangzhou and is a qualified ISO 9002 audit inspector.
