Stylish Wares, Savvy Service

September 29, 2014
Bloom & Branch
In a city where retailers routinely go above and beyond to provide shoppers with an exceptional in-store experience – a deep bow and greeting on the way in; impeccably packaged goods and a cheery thanks on departure – it’s no small accomplishment when a new boutique gains attention for its exceptional customer care. But recently opened Aoyama concept store Bloom & Branch has done just that, winning over a loyal contingent of service-minded Tokyoites with not only a top-notch assemblage of contemporary attire and handmade homeware, but nifty in-store extras like a slick Brift H shoeshine bar and smart Cobi Coffee café.

Enter the unassuming white and wood shop front, sidestep the communal coffee table and make for the industrially-styled rear of the store, where suspended racks are lined with Phlannel trousers and S.E.H Kelly cord coats for sir, Leon Flam handbags and Manolo Blahnik heels for her, plus imported vintage items and three house labels of tailor-made basics and streetwear. Suitably outfitted, drop your scuffed brogues off with Brift H for a shine up and order a fruity cappuccino from the dedicated in-store barista. You should have just enough time to take a turn around the small homewares section – stocked with locally-made tablewares and linens – before your beans are brewed, then it’s just a matter of pulling up a perch at the counter and settling in with a coconut Yōkan for an unhurried post-shop sip session. Oh, shop it!
