‘Tis the season to be jolly, and for Shanghai-based bon-vivants looking for a seasonal sip-sperience or sumptuous surrounds to ring in the New Year, there are few better places to make merry than lavish bar-lounger The Nest.

A collaboration between the hospitality heavyweights behind clubby Muse and Grey Goose Vodka, the earthy hued, cavernous space strikes a more sophisticated cord than it’s party palace half-sib. Think viewy floor-to-ceiling windows, chill sitting areas and a long bar illuminated by a helix-like LED installation.

The sounds are also decidedly grown-up with contempo indie and rock, though the tunes do get a beat more dancy on weekends. What doesn’t change are the drinks, an onpoint assemblage of inventive vodka infusions with house-made syrups.

Brave sorts can go for the Viking’s Breath, a potent potion of Grey Goose Original, cynar, orange, wolfberries and a punch of German horseradish paste. Or, spice it up with a cinnamon pear sour featuring la poire vodka, eau de vie liqueur and rose petals.

And to accompany? Oysters and black pearl caviar from the raw counter or meatier fare like T-bone steaks and pork shoulder for three. Go on, you’ve been good.
