Master of Maroquinerie

April 23, 2015
Serge Amoruso

Home to haute couture, motherland of la mode – if you’re in the market for an eye-catching accessory, Paris is the place to go. And for a one-off piece of arm candy guaranteed to inspire envy among fashionista friends and frenemies, look no further than skin savant of the finest degree, Serge Amoruso.

The son of an artisan ebonist, Serge embarked on his own creative journey aged just 15, before going on to hone his craft chez Hermès. Following seven years at the leather goods stable, Serge established his own atelier, where he has made his name as maestro maroquinier to those in search of something truly special.

Each design is completely unique; inspired by the person for whom it is being created and hand-cut by Serge himself from an exceptional range of skins, including bison, crocodile, ostrich, shagreen and beavertail.

From large luggage and butter soft bags to gorgeous wallets, watchstraps and even decorative walls, Serge has something for the style sophisticate in everyone –  the likes of François Pinault, Benjamin de Rothschild and the Sultan of Brunei have all walked away with a bespoke piece to suit their urbane tastes. Who said that beauty was only skin deep?
