As something that you will likely wear on a daily basis, and continue to do so for years to come, choosing a watch should be a considered and leisurely decision. Which is exactly what the team behind new SoHo concept boutique, Material Good, had in mind when they designed this magnificent, plush, inviting and linger-worthy second-floor space.
Don’t be put on edge by the walls expensively adorned in Basquiat and Warhol, or the show-stopping Douglas Little light installation – this is a place to kick back and make yourself comfortable, be that on a velvety daybed, at the heavy oak communal table, or aside the custom foosball table. Private hideaways also play host to squashy sofas, bookcases and sound systems, all with nothing for sale in sight.
Cortado or bubbles in hand, you’re at liberty to peruse as you please, but be warned the stock is no less jaw-dropping than the space, with labels ranging from Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille to Bamford Watch Department, plus an array of vintage watches, fine jewellery, diamonds and other dazzlers by Fred Leighton, Anita Ko and Spinelli Kilcollin. Just take your time...
