An Anthom to Indie Designers

December 31, 2014

Ashley Turchin had a promising career as a lawyer. Marshall Johnson was a certified finance whiz. Carla Cabrera led the life of an accomplished scientist. But for their love of design and style, these three friends decided to leave their respective worlds behind and pursue their true passion - for fashion. With that, the now cult-favourite e-store Anthom, with its expertly curated collection of lesser-known womenswear designers, was born. And just a year since its launch, Anthom has moved from cyberspace to its first brick-and-mortar location in Virginia, and more recently, a New York flagship in the happening Chelsea nabe.

Within its streamlined space of exposed ducts, natural wood surfaces and rough concrete floors, stylistas can come face to face with the very same offerings to be found in Anthom’s virtual boutique. Lining the copper pipe racks are pastel camo blouses by Ukraine’s Ksenia Schnaider, striped t-shirt dresses from Angeleno label Achro, and camel coats by Seoul’s Low Classic. To complete the ensemble, be sure to peruse their spiffy range of accessories, such as boot wedges by London’s Miista, hand-sculpted stone bangles by Jujumade, and leather clutches from Toronto-based Leather Atelier, lining the shelves. Talk about an Anthom to indie designers!
