Shabby-Chic Home Haven

January 11, 2015

Urban Abode

Having already made herself at home on the pages of national interior glossies like ELLE Decoration and Real Living thanks to her signature shab-chic room makeovers, Manila-based interior design docent Kristen Neri has now set about bringing her bespoke fittings and rustic-mod décor directly to the city’s nest featherers though her very own enterprise, Urban Abode. Sitting pretty in the CW Home Depot complex, the bijou two-storey shop is festooned with natty one-off objects, vintage and upcycled accessories, locally-made lifestyle items and Neri’s own hand-crafted and customisable reclaimed wood furnishings.

Divided into areas showcasing her curated, complementing collections, the sprawling earthy-hued showroom is packed with a diverse cache of worldly wares ranging from blond-birch herringbone tables and colonial-inspired oversized armchairs, to framed antlers found in the US, barn-light pendant lamps, colourful aztec-print pillows and a rather twee teepee. Such a selection most definitely merits a mid-shop joe stop, and fortunately business manager-cum-barista Mike Magturo is on hand to brew up some jip local java when it is most needed or, for those that want the look without any of the legwork, Kristen can personally come to your digs and do all of the decorating for you.
