New Gin Gem

October 19, 2015
The Bonbon Club

It was back in April that we first wrote about buzzy boite Finders Keepers, a hidden sip spot that fast gained a rep as the city’s hippest hang thanks to its tantalising tipples and relaxed vibes.

Six months on, the rouge-wrapped bar’s Blues and Booze sessions still pack out, leaving lines before the unmarked entrance, so the team behind the ever-popular venture have graciously decided to give Manila’s drink-loving denizens another reason to raise a glass with the opening of their second imbiber, The Bonbon Club in Legaspi Village.

While it’s older sibling has an air of dim-lit decadence, this new edition keeps things white, bright and whimsically kitsch with pale walls decked out in flower-adorned deers’ heads, blond-wood parquetry, wicker lounges and a counter backed by a stainglass-esque feature panel.

Similarly, the gin-centric, mixologist-devised libation list skews towards lighter, muggy weather-appropriate muddles including the signature Hog’s Lane (a refreshing mix of Sipsmith, berries and rosemary) and the perfectly peachy Madame Geneva. Those that would rather stick to the classics will also find well-made martinis, gimlets and negronis, or purists can opt for a G&T made with whatever juniper kick ticks their box. So, go on, get in and shake your bonbon.
