Park Lights

December 12, 2016
Festival of Lights

Combining two of our favourite things – lights and nature – the Festival of Lights ripples through the Ayala Triangle Gardens daily from 6pm to 10pm every 30 minutes. The sparkly spectacular perfectly captures the spirit of the season, with multitudes of pretty white and coloured lanterns, globes, stick lights, illuminated streamers and glowing decorations ensuring this groovy Garden of Eden is amped up to the magical max.

Once the country’s first landing strip, and now a buzzy skyscraper-fringed Makati bizz hub, Ayala Triangle Gardens is a verdant 20,000sqm oasis and home to more than a hundred trees, from fir to golden palms. The open-air courtyard boasts lush greenery and eye-catching public art pieces from major names, including Catalan artist Antoni Tapies, making it a year-round retreat.

Until 8 January, however, it really comes alive at night, and is worth the trip just to snap and savour the lights and sounds, from kaleidoscopic foliage to rainbow-bright lasers, all set to festive carols.

A gourmet night market adds to the upbeat Christmas mood. Join the flocks of neighbouring office workers escaping to enjoy the free scene each evening. After all, tis the season to be merry – and de-stress. Let there be lights!

Until 8 Jan, 2017.
