Thom Browne
If everyday is a fashion show, then every street is a runway. To ensure your silhouette cuts a sharp, sartorial outline, you need to think a little differently from the fashion flock. And helping you embody this black sheep attitude is the impeccably well-heeled enfant terrible of modern menswear, Thom Browne.
Appealing to Hong Kong’s increasingly vogueish gents, the brand has recently opened its first flagship in Greater China. The 2,200-sq-ft paean to irreverent Americana carries the entire men’s collection, including shoes and accessories. Think tight tailoring, bold prints and oft-exposed ankles courtesy of the signature cropped trews (that’s trousers, to you non-Scots) – which have adorned many a dapper dandy, including Eddie Redmayne and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. All of this evokes the designer’s unique approach to anti-establishment dressing and a playful take on a classic preppy aesthetic that somehow always stays on the right side of wearable.
The Studio Mellone-designed boutique mirrors the designer’s original store in New York, with poured terrazzo floors, grey marble-clad walls and Mid-Century furny creating an early ‘60s office look. All that’s missing is Don Draper, who, were he around today, would almost certainly be leading Thom Browne’s mod squad. Suits you, sir!
