Electric, One Night Only

September 22, 2014
Pet Shop Boys

They boast a prodigious career spanning more than 25 years. They’ve sold over 50 million records worldwide. And in 2009, they were bestowed with the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. Who are they? None other than UK synthpop duo the Pet Shop Boys, who have recently been traversing the globe on their critically acclaimed Electric tour, performing over 100 shows in more than 40 countries. And on 26 September, the awesome twosome will arrive at their penultimate destination: Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo stage, for one night only.

Frontman Neil Tennant and keyboardist extraordinaire Chris Lowe will undoubtedly set fire to the stage with their distinct style of sound, with visual accompaniment including dramatic costumes, backup dancers and quirky tailor-made footage showing mathematical equations and Google Earth images. While the set list mainly focuses on the tour’s namesake album with tunes from ‘Axis’ to ‘Vocal’, avid admirers can still expect to hear some of their earlier hits like ‘West End Girls’ and ‘It’s a Sin’. If these enduring English music icons were playing on your Walkman even before the 2000s, it could be high time for a dance down memory lane.
