Le French May
Don’t know your accent grave from your aigu, your Flaubert from your Rimbaud, or your brie from your camembert? Well never fear, Le French May is here... offering expats of La République and francophiles alike the opportunity to become fully versed and immersed in a world where the lingua franca is a general love of all things Gallic. Mais, oui!
From 1 May to 30 June, Hong Kong hosts a cornucopia of French culture, boasting a veritable buffet of events that encompass visual arts, classical and contempo music, dance, cinema and fashion. Get into the esprit of things with an exhibition of work from irreverent street artist Invader; Le Corbusier’s first major retrospective in Hong Kong; hip-hop ballet The Roots; and a world-first from award-winning baroque ensemble Amarillis, La Double Coquette.
Naturellement, for it to be a truly French affair there has to be food involved. Enter Le French GourMay, a standalone programme that focuses on gastronomie francaise, with this year’s theme spotlighting the wine and cuisine of the Midi-Pyrénées region, with more than 80 restaurants across the city offering specially designed menus and wine pairings. Santé!
Le French May until 30 Jun, 2015.
