Sharp Gent’s Groomer

April 27, 2015
Truefitt & Hill
While a lesser man might be content to keep his grooming regimen to a basic bimonthly ‘short back and sides’, for discerning gents requiring a more refined styling experience there is no trim n’ clipper more esteemed than Truefitt & Hill. Established in London’s Mayfair in 1805, the oldest barbershop in the biz has been responsible for the mane maintenance of such historic figures as King George III, Charles Dickens and Winston Churchill. More recently they have set up shop in Bangkok and Beijing, and now the long-running Chicago outpost has been moved and improved with the opening of premises in the Financial District’s Harris Bank Building.

Smartly outfitted with cream and green wall panels, gilded mirrors, dark woods and classic leather chairs, the recently unveiled salon offers all of the services Chicago’s dapper chaps have come to expect, from simple cuts and beard trims to an indulgent herbal steam facial. Fellas short on time can dash in pre-work for a quick cut throat wet shave or, if that afternoon meeting cancels, take the time to get your mitts looking slick with a manicure and hand massage in one of the semi-private rooms. To ensure you’re looking trig from head to toe, there are also pedi and shoe shine options, plus good value package deals and take-home products. Something for the weekend, sir?
