Boka’s New Sup, Son

November 23, 2015
Swift & Sons
In competitively culinary Chicago, new venues come and go faster than courses at a degustation, but one dining dream team has an unrivalled reputation for serving up red hot sup spots that stand the test of time.

We are talking, of course, about the Boka Restaurant Group, the foodie-loved force behind izakaya wonder Momotaro, Girl & the Goat and GT Fish & Oyster, among others. And now comes the latest Boka baby, a mod American steakhouse in Fulton Market dubbed Swift & Sons, that is already proving to be as popular as its older siblings. For good reason, too...

Step inside the sprawling, club-like space and you’ll immediately note the impeccable attention to service and style, which starts with a concierge counter where a hostess waits to show you to your seats. These might be at the long counter of the subway-tiled ‘tavern’, under the woody arches of the upstairs diner or on the cushy leather banquette by the glassy wine cellar.

Of course, the meaty menu is just as carefully considered as the decor, with rib eyes and strip loins – all served with your choice of sauce and surf topper – plus revamped classics like crabcakes and shrimp cocktails.

Rather keep it light? There’s a bar menu featuring sharable small plates like steak tartare and sticky chicken wings, or swim through to the resto-in-resto, Cold Storage, for flip-fresh seafood sandwiches and raw bites.

All this, plus trig ‘tails, craft brews and a long list of top local and international drops. Swift & Son of a gun!
