Ari Washington is a businesswoman of many talents. When the PR maven isn’t managing the images of sports stars like baseball's Taijuan Walker and American Footballer Darqueze Dennard, she channels her focus towards her other passion: fashion. And at her recently unveiled Soñador Boutique in Chicago’s Lincoln Park district, it would seem all efforts have certainly paid off as the rotating, highly-curated men’s and women’s cache has caught the eye of more than a few local stylistas.
A short climb up the canopy-covered stairs brings shopportunists to the space of glossy, dark wood floorboards, exposed brick walls, and comfy leather armchairs. Men’s racks are lined with casual designs like varsity jackets by 7 Diamonds, to more formal attire including two-piece suits by Moschino and Alexander Mcqueen’s tuxedo trousers. Meanwhile, the ladies’ collection is a playful mix of established (Victoria Beckham, Missoni) to emerging (Allison Collection NY) names, with standout pieces including white lamb leather moto jackets by California-based J Brand, dresses from Red Valentino’s latest season, and uber sophisticated Zac Posen gowns and skirts from Derek Lam’s 10 Crosby line. Add bohemian-inspired jewellery by Nocturne to accent, and you’ve got a look that goes from boardroom, to dinner to dancefloor – just like Ari. Purses out!
