Sinatra meets Space Odyssey

January 03, 2013
Sixty Six

What is shaking and stirring Los Angeles’ cocktail crowd these days? The answer is an ultra-exclusive, Sinatra-meets-Space Odyssey microclub by the name of Sixty Six, where the golden-age ambience, Bardot-esque dancers and a house, hip-hop and electro-pop soundtrack have West Hollywood’s most glamorous lining up for a glimpse of what’s beyond the velvet rope.

Designed by Charles Infante (famed for crafting pop starlet Lady Gaga’s music videos) and situated in the space formerly occupied by Winston’s, Sixty Six is a luxurious, low-lit salon, with backlit mirrors lining the wall, a raised DJ booth surrounded by black leather banquettes, and a polished piano wood bar sleekly aglow with both futuristic cutouts and old-world je ne sais quoi.

There is bottle upon bottle of premium liquor stacked to the ceiling and a classic cocktail selection featuring the signature Belvedere vodka Dirty Martini, but be warned this swank spot only opens Thursdays and Saturdays to just 100 well-heeled imbibers each night, so you can bet competition to get in will be fierce.

Side-step the throng by reserving a seat at one of seven private tables for bottle service of Moet, Dom Perignon and Veuve Cliquot, and dressing to kill, obviously. Salut!
