Italian Luxury, Los Angeles Style

September 12, 2013
Bottega Veneta

Further solidifying Melrose Place’s status as the retail go-to for the international jet set, luxury Italian label Bottega Veneta joins the line-up as the new shop on the fashionable block, having opened in July an inspired concept store, said to be the first of many in the brand’s effort to launch specialised stores geared towards location and clientele. Designed by none other than creative director (and sultan of swimwear) Tomas Maier, the 2,727 sq ft shop sits in a lush, ivy-overgrown building quite unlike any of the other global BV flagships, but which with its elegant, clean white-and-wood interiors fits perfectly into the LA scene.

Intended to maintain a gallery feel, the interior design features mesh panels and painted steel fixtures, and a concise, curated selection of their signature luxury leather goods sits pretty on shelves. Currently the early fall 2013 apparel sees a rich, earth-toned palette of pale pink petal, mauves, dark greys and deep blues colouring silhouettes on the racks, while standout accessories include the Intrecciato oxidised silver tie-clips from the men’s fall collection, and the covetable tributary range of porcelain-inlaid jewellery honouring the 250th anniversary of Berlin’s KPM (Royal Porcelain Factory) and the 5-year anniversary of their partnership. Should you desire a rest after the oncoming wallet workout, simply take a seat in the open-air courtyard in the back of the store. Does Bottega Veneta pass the LA test? A resounding ‘yes’.
