A Juicy Bite of NY Heaven in LA

September 06, 2012
Bowery Bar & Bistro

With stiff competition around every corner, being voted ‘Best Burger in LA’ is no mean feat, and when foodie bibles Eater and are in agreement – well, that just can’t be ignored. Located on Sunset Boulevard, the diminutive diner lies behind an unassuming white tile façade, but the pared-back, city-cool interior of charcoal, black tile, dark wood and Brooklyn-imported bar stools will have you thinking you’ve been transported straight to NYC.

Bowery burgers have garnered a staunch following, so be prepared to wait with a cocktail or artisan beer during busy periods, but once seated, simply select from a range of sauces, cheeses and toppings including our favourites, delicious red onion confit and fried garlic, and sit back. Don’t be surprised when your cooked-to-perfection sirloin burger (with hand-cut string fries) is served on a toasted English muffin – as unusual as it seems, the less sweet and bread-y ‘bun’ actually allows you to more fully appreciate the full blast of beef. Billed as LA’s first Gastropub, Bowery’s menu also features classic favourites like fish and chips, tuna melts, Caesar salad and meatloaf with mash. But trust us - it’s the burgers that’ll have your taste buds doing backflips.
