Detox O'Clock!

How To Detox In Bangkok
After so much indulgence over Christmas – from chocolate Santas to cal-heavy cocktails – it’s time to purge that paunch. LUXE suggests the following Bangkok-based fitspirations for blasting out the old habits and ushering in the new. Kick off with some re-energising cardio in natural surrounds, then detox in style…

2017’s Pantone colour is Greenery, so raise your heart rate by cycling round the city’s green lung, Bang Krachao conservation area, in a bend of the Chao Phraya in Phra Pradaeng. Take a boat from the piers near Wat Klong Toey Nok across the river, where you’ll find bike hire shops with handy maps. Trad wooden houses dot palm-lined cycleways leading to fab Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan park, local temples and a weekend floating market (tip: weekdays are quieter).

Time to reward yourself with a healthy treat. Old-school Nippon cutie Tsujiri recently launched its first zen-sleek Bangkok outpost at The Emquartier. Sip on verdant cups of matcha tea, an anti-ageing, antioxidant superfood rich in calorie-burning Catechin. We challenge you to resist an order of the glossy green soft-serve ice-cream (they also do shaved ice and frosty matcha floats, perfect for humid days).

For another Japanese wellbeing boost, relieve those tired muscles at Bangkok’s only real-deal onsen Yunomori Onsen & Spa. Bathe in warm, mineral-packed water sourced from Wat Wangkanai’s thermal springs, sauna and steam, before enjoying a holistic Thai massage. Offering open-air garden baths and private teak tubs, it’s a serene retreat from the hectic city, with a beauty clinic and cafe on the side. And breathe…
