Putting the Art in Party

November 17, 2014
Cho Why
The Big Mango’s Chinatown has long been an attraction among the Bangkok-bound for its seemingly endless array of shophouses and wide selection of street eats. But more than just a place to feed hungry tums, today this visitor-favourite district is gaining a new rep thanks to its latest addition – up-and-coming event space Cho Why, which has quickly garnered a following amongst the art and party set for its fun lineup of art functions featuring mostly photography, music and cinema-centric happenings.

Since its launch in early August, the multi-level, multi-disciplinary space has already staged a string of well-received events, like joint photo exhibition ‘Rear Window’ showcasing snapshots by 5 local shutterbugs including Soopakorn Srisakul and Lilian Suwanrumpha, plus a documentary by Napawan Sittisak and Teerapong Tomnaung. Then, stepping up the pace came Cho Why’s Havana-themed night with Cuban music stylings, LatAm-inspired tipples (mojitos and cuba libres, naturally), plus the all-important Cubano sandwich rendition by chef Rene Michelena, and the ‘From Ecstasy to Rapture’ soirée with experimental film screenings dished up alongside Philly cheese steak subs from popular local food truck Cheese Break. With a top-notch track record to its name after such a short opening period, one can only guess what’s to come next, so best stay tuned to Cho Why’s Facebook page for all the fun yet to be announced.
