And a Five, Six, Seven, Eight…

November 10, 2014
Jazz Happens Bar
When Jazz Happens was founded in 2009 by a group of instructors from Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Jazz, it was intended to be a platform for young and aspiring bebop musicians to hone and show off their skills. But five years later, thanks to the talented roster of established and up-and-coming artists recruited by owner and famed pianist Nu Vudthivichai, this intimate Phra Athit Road haunt has fluidly evolved into what is currently one of the best bars in Bangkok to enjoy the groovy sounds of jazz.

With just a few seats making up JH’s narrow nook, the crowd tends to spill out onto the sidewalk. So be sure to come in early for a coveted spot inside, where the lineup of live entertainment has seen recent performances from the likes of Japanese trumpet virtuoso Yusuke Shima, local group DOME’s Project and contestants from The Voice Thailand. And while tapping their toes to the beat, revellers can order up some regional bar bites from grilled pork neck to satay skewers. Just add a beer or classic cocktail, and all that’s left to do is kick back and enjoy the tunes – hit it Vudthivichai!
