Foodie Wonderland

26 décembre 2013
Eataly

With their original US-based Eataly in NYC having amassed nearly $70m in sales in its first year of operation, it’s hardly a mystery as to why celeb chef Mario Batali and famed restaurateur Joe Bastianich chose to roll out a sophomore emporium offering in Chicago last month. Part high-end grocery market and part dining destination, Eataly Chicago is 63,000 sq ft of pure foodie wonderland, cramming in 23 restaurants and thousands upon thousands of products specially-curated to assist shoppers in recreating the Eataly restaurant dishes at home, not to mention access jet-fresh everything from meats and fish, to pastas, truffles, sauces, sweets and much more.

For those eating-in there’s the fish-centric Il Pesca serving responsibly-sourced seafood in myriad classic Italian preparations plus daily chalkboard specials; casual La Carne specialising in artisanal, US-farmed meats like 100% USDA Prime Black Angus from Diamond Creek Ranch in Kansas and Suffolk lamb from Michigan’s Marvin Dane Farm; vegetarian plates at La Verdure; formal dining room Baffo with seasonal menus and a glorious wine list; Alpine-inspired pub dining and house-brewed ales at La Birreria; plus pizza, pasta, gelati, wine, rotisserie and sweets counters including a sinfully delicious branded Nutella bar. Needless to say this is one mammoth (and extremely popular) culinary adventure, so have a game plan or a cleared schedule because you could be there a while!
