Potechao !
Undoubtedly one of the most recognisable and busiest scenes in the world is the Shibuya Crossing, the bustling intersection outside Shibuya’s metro station where hundreds of bodies scurry across a junction lit by giant TV screens and flashing neon lights. What’s the rush? Well, the answer for many could easily be Bamboo Restaurant Group’s new Spanish-inflected diner Potechao!, specialising in cooked-to-perfection pollo a l’ast (or rotisserie chicken), and just a ten minute skip from the famed crossing.

Once you’ve followed your nose to Potechao!’s side street situ, you’ll discover an intimate 20-seat venue evoking a Catalonian watering hole with vibrant murals and a tiled bar. The specialty birds, weighing in at just over 1kg, are marinated for 24 hours in the ‘secret’ blend of ingredients, then stuffed with oranges and prunes, and rotisserie roasted over the crispy potatoes cooking below. Additional sides like chicken stock-steeped rice and freshly fried chips offer an equally sinful dose of carbs, while fruity red wine sangria or a bottle from their solid selection of globally-sourced craft beers (including Cruzcampo from Spain or Japanese Kirinmake) provide downright tasty accompaniment. What are you waiting for… chick it out!
